Barry D Hedley
- Chairman

Barry was formerly European founder and Global Chairman of Braxton Associates, an international strategy and financial consulting firm which later became the strategy practice of Deloitte Consulting. Under his leadership Braxton grew to around 1000 people worldwide. At Deloitte, Barry was also a member of the Global Management Committee directing its $4 billion consulting business.
Barry's professional concentration in recent years has been on linking strategy formulation and execution processes to shareholder value, and this has led him to his current role at Dialectyx.

He maintains an active academic role at the Judge Business School, Cambridge University, where he is a Senior Associate and teaches Advanced Business and Corporate Strategy and Financial Management. He is also an Emeritus Fellow and Director of Management Studies at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, where he was formerly Senior Bursar.

He has an MBA degree with High Distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar and Harkness Fellow, and First Class Honours degrees in both Mechanical and Chemical Engineering from Cambridge University. He is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology, and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts (RSA).



Stephen Arnold
- Managing Director

Stephen graduated with honours in BSc in Business Management and with distinction in MSc in Digital Systems.

He founded Softa in 1986, building the company into one of the top consultancies in the UK. Softa specialised in the integration of strategy, planning and reporting processes, producing an innovative methodology - LivingStrategy - supported by its Sextant software. Stephen also lectured at leading business schools.

Softa sold its intellectual property to Deloitte Consulting in 1998 and Stephen became a global partner with responsibility for Strategic Enterprise Management and Financial and Performance Management. He continued to work with leading business schools and software vendors in this space.

Stephen and his team acquired the intellectual property from Deloitte to re-establish the Softa organisation in late 2002. During 2003, Softa worked closely with Cognos in the field of Corporate Performance Management which led to the purchase of Softa by Cognos in 2004.



Ben Calverley
- Client Services Director

Ben has spent over 20 years combining both business consultancy as well as software specification and development.

Ben graduated from the University of Aston in Birmingham in 1983 in Business Administration and French. Having spent 3 years in industry, Ben joined Softa, specialising in the integration of strategy, sales and marketing planning and reporting processes, producing an innovative methodology, LivingStrategy. At Softa, Ben was a key member in the specification and design of Softa's main software product, Sextant.

Ben moved to Deloitte in 1998 when it acquired Softa's IPR and was a manager in the Strategic Enterprise Management team working with large corporates and software vendors (predominantly SAP, Oracle and Hyperion) helping to apply technology to the strategy and planning processes.

Softa was subsequently bought by Cognos, the leading CPM and BI vendor, where Ben worked for 2 years in Corporate Performance Management, supporting both consultancy partners and clients.



Ian Inglis
- Sales and Marketing Director

Ian Inglis is a dynamic and entrepreneurial senior executive who has delivered top quality results and high impact initiatives throughout his 25 year sales career.

After graduating in Economics & Business Studies from Edinburgh University in 1979, he has pursued a dedicated sales career, which has taken him from big ticket asset finance through to high value software sales, sales management and general management.

From 2000, Ian was UK Managing Director for Frango, the Swedish owned financial applications vendor and oversaw the most successful period in the company's history, taking it from loss to substantial profit, whilst growing revenues at more than 30% year on year.

After the acquisition of Frango by Cognos, the CPM and BI vendor, in 2004, he held a variety of senior director roles at Cognos, including responsibility for the UK Financial Services and Global Accounts teams.



Richard Morley
- Business Development Director

For 14 years, Richard successfully managed most of the UK's major food retail national accounts. Having been coached and developed by some of the UK's top business leaders in the FMCG sector, it was time to put something back.

Richard moved into training and consultancy with LDL, one of the UK's leading sales and leadership development providers. As a director, he researched, designed and delivered highly successful programmes on all aspects of leadership and business development with outstanding results. Whether presenting to 300+ delegates or conducting one-to-one coaching for senior executives, he has developed a flexible and effective style of communication, knowledge and skills transfer.

Working with clients on specific business development projects ensures an understanding of the leadership and commercial issues of today. Richard joined Dialectyx to develop and execute business development strategies and provide appropriate business development consultancy to clients where required.



Simon Palmer
- Technical Director

Simon Palmer studied Astrophysics at King's College, London, graduating in 1988. He has held various positions in both commerce, and Independent Software Vendors over a 20 year career in Software Engineering. His background in Physics and Mathematics has seen him cited as inventor on numerous patents and holder of IPR in various domains.

Simon is skilled both as a software engineer and as a manager. He has had day-to-day responsibility for teams from 5 to 100 in both the UK and Canada and specialised in the management of remote (transatlantic) development during 10 years with Cognos Inc. where, amongst other roles, he was Director of Software Development for their Applications business. He spent three years based in Ottawa, Canada.

During his career Simon has also been part of several successful software ventures, notably Right Information Systems, inventors of the Neural Network based mathematical modelling tool 4Thought which was acquired by Cognos Inc in 1997.



Rajiv Nadkarni
- Software Development Partner

Rajiv has over 23 years experience in Software Development Services, primarily in Offshore Outsourcing. Rajiv has worked in India, USA & EMEA, and is now leading Microsap, delivering software services from its offshore centres, with Dialectyx as a major partner.

Rajiv has set up large-scale offshore relationships, managed accounts with team size of more than 100 people and managed the complete delivery of large projects with teams of 50+ people.

He started his career as a Software Consultant with Tata, and from 1985 through 1997, Rajiv worked for Blue Star Limited, becoming Group Project Manager responsible for complete delivery management for multinationals such as 3M, HP and Boots. He then joined Mastech Systems, a US based global Software consulting company, and was the Head of Technical Resourcing for Europe.

Rajiv is an Electrical Engineer with Post Graduate qualifications in Software Technology from the National Centre for Software Technology, a Government of India initiative.



Jim Irving
- Associate Director

Jim has over 33 years experience in the IT industry. He has worked with a number of the IT industries most innovative organisations including Digital, Amdahl and Sequent in ever more senior roles.

Jim was EMEA Channels Director for Silicon Graphics, growing his area from $50m to $200m turnover, across more than 25 countries. He was then UK Managing Director for Information Builders. Jim successfully restructured and grew this, their largest non-US operation.

Jim works with Dialectyx in business development, strategy and sales and marketing execution.

He holds an MBA, gained from Napier University in Edinburgh where he is now the visiting lecturer to the Postgraduate Business School, specialising in managing change and strategy. Jim is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
